Artificial Grass for Pools: Does Chlorine or Sun Damage It?

If you have a pool, you know that maintaining natural grass around it is a losing battle. Between chlorine, salt, wet feet, and the shaded areas where grass never grows, you usually end up with a ring of mud or yellowing patches.
Artificial grass is the definitive solution for having a magazine-worthy poolside all year round. However, the same questions always arise: Does it fade with chlorine? Does it burn your feet? Is it safe for kids running around? Let’s clear up all those doubts.
1. Total Resistance to Chlorine and Salt
Our turf models are manufactured with high-quality polyethylene fibers treated against UV rays and chemical agents.
No color loss: Even if pool water (whether chlorinated or saline) splashes constantly, the grass will keep its original green. It won’t become brittle or "bleach" over time.
Pro Tip: You only need to hose it down occasionally to remove salt or dried chlorine residue, keeping its natural shine intact.
2. Goodbye to Slips (Safety First)
One of the biggest advantages over ceramic tiles or stone is the grip.
Artificial grass is naturally non-slip. Even when wet, it offers much higher traction, drastically reducing the risk of falls when children come running out of the water.
Additionally, if someone does fall, the turf provides cushioning that tiles simply cannot offer.

3. Drainage: A Dry Garden in Minutes
Many people fear that permanent puddles will form around the pool. Thanks to the perforated backing, artificial grass can drain up to 60 liters per minute per square meter. The water quickly filters through to the gravel base, keeping the surface walkable and mud-free.
4. What About the Heat?
It is true that artificial grass gets warmer than natural grass. However, being next to the pool is an advantage:
The simple act of getting in and out of the water constantly refreshes the fibers.
A quick 1-minute rinse before using the area will drastically drop the temperature, keeping it pleasant for hours due to the evaporation of water retained in the silica sand.
Expert Advice: When installing turf around a pool, make sure to keep a small coping strip (the stone or wood edge) between the water and the grass. This makes cleaning easier and creates a much more professional aesthetic.
